Box Score Hiram, OH - October 29, 2022Â --Â The Women's Volleyball team celebrated Senior Day in a big way, winning the regular-season finale in straight sets at home on Senior Day, over Washington & Jefferson, 25-12, 25-15, 25-21.
The Terriers led from start to finish in the first two sets. In the opening set, Hiram jumped out to an 11-3 lead, featuring two service aces from senior middleÂ
Lyndsey Johns. The Presidents could get no closer than within six points at 14-8. The Terriers kept the pressure on and won going away, led by
Cate Maguire's four kill shots accounting for the majority of Hiram's final seven points in the set..
The second set looked much like the first with the Terriers running out to another 11-3 advantage. Washington & Jefferson cut the lead to four on a couple of occasions, including 14-10, but Hiram displayed its resolve by hammering four straight kill shots, two by senior right side hitter Maddie Burns and one each from sophomore middle

Kayla Franks. That brought the lead back to eight at 18-10 and the Terriers cruised home to a 25-15 win.
The third set was the closest set and was still in doubt when Hiram led 23-21. But a kill shot from freshman outside hitter Brooke Norris and a service ace from freshman setter Brooke Fishback settled the final score at 25-21. Â
In that third set, Hiram took another big lead at 10-5 but the Presidents fought back, going on a 7-2 run to tie the score at 12. Again, the Terriers bounced back with four consecutive points, including kill shots from sophomore outside hitter
Andrya Hanmore, Norris and Burns. W&J pulled to within one at 19-18, but two kills from junior middle
Amber Fox helped regain a three-point edge at 22-19 A kill shot from Johns made it 23-19. After the Presidents came with 23-21, that's when Norris and Fishback slammed the door for the last two points of the set and match.
Burns amassed a match-high 10 kills and hit .444 while Norris added six more. Franks and Richardson each chipped in with five kill shots. Richardson hit a match-best .571. Fishback and sophomore setter
Mary Landis topped the assist list with 15 and 13, respectively. Senior libero Kenzie.Brannon led the team with 16 digs and Norris was close behind with 12. Hanmore, Fox and Franks were each credited with two block assists.
The Terriers ended the regular season with a 13-12 record. They will open the two-day, single-elimination NCAC tournament on Friday, Nov. 4 as the #5 seed. Hiram will play 8th-seeded Oberlin in the first round at Wittenberg.
