NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - April 13, 2021 Hiram College men's volleyball junior outside hitter Tom Supan was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year, while juniors Dangelo Boehner, Kilvio Montero and senior Cory Fischer earned All-AMCC honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Supan, a 2020 First-Team All-AMCC selection and the 2021 AMCC Preseason Player of the Year, is the first player in Hiram men's volleyball program history to earn Player of the Year honors, and the first to earn back-to-back First-Team All-AMCC honors as well.

""I couldn't be happier for Tom!" Head Coach Kevin Kustura said. "He came back from a mid-season concussion and was huge for us in our most important matches of the year, including the final when he set a program record for kills in a single match."

A 2021 All-AMCC First-Team selection and the 2021 AMCC Player of the Year, Supan tallied 122 kills (4.69/set), 46 digs, 15 service aces, eight blocks and one assist over eight matches played. The junior led the conference in kills per set, and finished Top 5 in both kills, hitting percentage and service aces per set.

Supan would also rank in the Top 10 in the country in kills per set, if he had played enough matches to qualify.

Junior right-side hitter Kilvio Montero joined Supan in earning First-Team All-AMCC honors. Montero led the Terriers with 125 kills (3.21/set), adding 52 digs, 15 service aces and 14 blocks in 11 matches played. Montero ranks third in the AMCC in points per set, fourth in the AMCC in kills and hitting percentage and Top 10 in kills and aces per set.

"Kilvio switched positions mid-way through the year and was the driver of our offense when we were missing a few guys due to injuries," Kustura said. "He rightfully earned this with his play this year."

Senior libero Cory Fischer earned All-AMCC Second-Team honors after leading the conference and finishing sixth in NCAA Division III, averaging 3.24 digs per set. In total, Fischer tallied a team-high 133 digs and 18 assists over 11 matches played.

"Cory kept our serve receive intact when we lost our outsides to injuries," Kustura said. "He took on a bigger role with serve receive and he kept our offense in system, not to mention being a standout on defense to help our transition offense."

Fischer earns All-AMCC honors for the second-straight year after being named the AMCC Libero of the Year and earning First-Team All-AMCC honors in 2020.

Junior middle hitter Dangelo Boehner was also named Second-Team All-AMCC. The junior led the AMCC and finished 14th in NCAA Div. III with a .391 hitting percentage and totaled 80 kills (2.00/set), 30 digs, 27.0 blocks and six service aces.

"Dangelo did more for us than his stats show," Kustura said. "He controlled the net with his blocking and his offense and he made our offense so much more dynamic."

Boehner also finished fourth in the conference, averaging 0.68 blocks per set.

"Overall, I'm really happy for all four of our guys who earned recognition," Kustura said. "Our program wouldn't be where it was today without all four of them."

The Terriers placed two student-athletes on the All-AMCC First-Team for the second-straight year, and placed four student-athletes on the first and second teams for the first time in program history. The Terriers placed three athletes on the All-AMCC teams in 2020.

Hiram wrapped up the 2021 regular season with a perfect, 7-0 conference record and entered the AMCC Championship as the No. 1 seed, before beating No. 4 Penn St. Altoona and No. 3 Penn St. Behrend to claim their first AMCC Conference Championship in program history, and earn an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Div. III Men's Volleyball Tournament in Salem, Va.

The Terriers will face the 4th-ranked Vassar College Brewers in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Div. III Men's Volleyball Tournament in Salem, Va. On Wednesday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals to take on Dominican University (Ill.) on April 22.
