ADRIAN, Mich. - November 9, 2019- Despite a career-high night from junior Tashauna Wright helping to erase an 18-point deficit, the Hiram College women's basketball team was unable to complete its comeback against Adrian falling 85-80, Saturday evening.

This matchup marked the second time in school history the Terriers played the Bulldogs pushing the series to 1-1.

Wright led the Hiram group with a career-best 31 points. Junior duo Alainna Conroy and Madison Branch served as offensive support, with Branch scoring 19 points and Conroy posting 15.

Junior Mickayla Baldwin paced the team in rebounding, with five boards.

Wright opened up scoring from the charity stripe to help the Terriers take an early lead, but that advantage was short-lived with the host outscoring Hiram in the opening 20 minutes.

The third quarter saw the Hiram offense spring to life, scoring the most points of any quarter by either team, outscoring the Bulldogs by a 26-21 margin. In the quarter, the Terriers used a 9-2 run to cut the host lead to single digits (48-40) with 6:49 remaining in the third. Amanda Holzman, Madison Branch, and Wright each contributed in the frame.

Trailing by eight at the end of the third quarter (65-57), Hiram axed away at the fourth-quarter deficit, outscoring the host 23-20.

The last five minutes were played close with Wright knocking down six straight free throws and a three from Conroy to tie the score (75-75).

From there, Adrian locked down the Terriers using a 10-5 run to secure the 85-80 victory. Sophmore Cici Bright hit a three-pointer that marked as the last Hiram basket of the game.

Hiram finished the night with 25 rebounds while forcing 21 turnovers, and held a 12-5 advantage in fastbreak points.

The Terriers will return to the court on Tuesday, Nov.12 when they take on Waynesburg. The matchup with the Yellow Jackets is set for 7:00 pm.
