BETHANY, W.Va. - November 19, 2019- The Hiram College women's swimming and diving team won its dual meet against Bethany on Saturday afternoon.
The women's team scored 285 points to the Bison 98, and the Hiram men fell 180-51.
Senior Jenna Nelson took first in the 100 yard-backstroke clocking in over five seconds faster than the next swimmer (1:13.82). Nelson also swam a first-place time in the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:56.95.
Fellow senior, Jill Schmidt collected her first individual win in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:12.65.
Junior Nicki Prentler won a pair of events in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:41.56) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:44.13).
In the 200-yard IM, junior Carlee Lisser led the way in a time of 2:39.05, before winning the 100-yard freestyle in 1:03.50.
Junior Angie Ross cut her seed time by almost three seconds in the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.90) after a Hiram win in the 50-yard freestyle (29.16), adding two more Hiram victories.
Devin Gear led the men's team swimming in three different events, he set a personal record in the 100-yard freestyle in 12:36.40 two and half seconds faster than his previous best set at the 2018-19 NCAC Championships.
The Terriers will travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov.23, and Sunday, Nov.24 for the Corbiere-Merion Invitational.
