GAMBIER, Ohio -- Senior Chris Lekan (North Olmsted, Ohio/Holy Name) recorded a hat trick, but the Hiram College men's lacrosse team fell to Kenyon in its season finale by a 21-5 count on Saturday.
The Terriers conclude the 2016 campaign at 2-12 overall and 0-8 in conference play, while the Lords clinch a spot in the NCAC Tournament with a 11-3 mark and 6-2 record in NCAC action.
Lekan got Hiram off to a good start, registering a goal just 32 seconds into the contest.
Following a Kenyon goal, Lekan put the Terriers back in front with another goal at the 8:44 mark.
The Lords were able to score the final two goals of the first quarter and held a 3-2 edge after one period.
Lekan would score his third and final goal at the 13:54 mark of the second quarter to knot the score at 3-3.
Kenyon would score the final two goals of the first half and held a 5-3 advantage heading into the intermission.
The second half would belong to the Lords, as Kenyon outscored Hiram 8-1 in both the third and fourth quarter to close out the win.
Senior Garet Johnston (Kent, Ohio/Wooster) scored the Terrier goal in the third and sophomore Nick Rollason (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) registered a goal in the fourth. Sophomore Justin Dionne (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) recorded assists on both goals, bringing his season total to 15, which is a new program record.
Senior Sawyer Lott (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) made 23 saves in goal for Hiram.
The Lords held a decisive 84-13 edge in shots and were able to force the Terriers to commit 27 turnovers.
