GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Senior Greg Summers (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's) broke the single season scoring record, but the Hiram College men's lacrosse team fell to DePauw (Ind.) 15-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Summers netted his record 24th goal at the 4:39 mark of the first quarter. He bettered his own record of 23 that he set last season.

DePauw (5-8, 2-4 NCAC) would answer with a goal just 18 seconds later and then jumped in front 2-1 on a man-up goal at the 8:23 mark of the first quarter.

Summers then scored his record breaking goal to tie the score and Johnston converted on a man-up opportunity with 4:25 left in the first quarter to put Hiram in front 3-2.

The Tigers would score the final two goals of the quarter to open a 4-3 lead.

DePauw took control of the contest in the second, scoring four goals to take an 8-3 lead.

The Tigers scored the first four goals of the third in a three minute span to open a 12-3 edge.

Hiram answered with goals from Johnston and senior Chris Lekan (North Olmsted, Ohio/Holy Name), to trim the deficit to 12-5.

DePauw closed out the scoring in the quarter to take a 13-5 advantage.

The Tigers outscored the Terriers 2-1 in the fourth stanza, with Hiram's lone goal coming from Lekan, with sophomore Nick Rollason (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) picking up the assist.

Johnston finished with a hat trick to lead Hiram offensively. Lekan added two goals and sophomore Justin Dionne (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) registered two assists.

Senior Sawyer Lott (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) made 15 saves in goal.
