HIRAM, Ohio -- Freshman Savana Lowery (Carrollton, Ohio/Carrollton) tied her career-high with 12 points, but the Hiram College women's basketball team fell to Wooster 65-50 on Wednesday evening.

The Terriers have now dropped four straight and fall to 11-12 on the season and 5-9 in conference play, while the Fighting Scots improve to 6-16, 2-11.

Lowery went 4-of-6 from the field and also pulled down three rebounds. She also tallied 12 points earlier this season at Kenyon on December 5.

Sophomore Mercedes Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Ponitz Career Technology Center) had a team-high 16 points for Hiram and sophomore Kaylee Shockley (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake) chipped in with 11 points and four steals.

Two free throws from Lowery with 20 seconds left in the opening period gave Hiram a 13-11 lead after one quarter of play.

A Lowery layup at the 6:08 mark of the second quarter allowed the Terriers to build a 20-15 lead.

But Wooster was able to come right back with a 10-2 run to take a 25-22 lead. The Fighting Scots took a 31-27 edge into the intermission.

In third quarter, the Fighting Scots scored eight of the first 10 points to open up a 39-29 lead.

The Terriers would pull to within seven points three times in the third stanza, but could draw no closer.

Wooster would put the game away with a 14-3 run in the fourth quarter.

Hiram finished the game 19-of-55 (34.5 percent) from the field and was 5-of-19 (26.3 percent) from beyond the arc. The Fighting Scots went 25-of-55 (45.5 percent) in shooting and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) in 3-pointers.

The Fighting Scots won the rebounding battle 35-32.

Lauren Hancher led the Fighting Scots with 32 points, going 14-of-22 from the field.

The Terriers will look to bounce back on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home contest against Oberlin. Hiram will also honor its four seniors before tipoff.
