Hiram, Ohio - September 19, 2026 - The Hiram men's soccer welcomed the Barons of Franciscan University Saturday evening for a PAC matchup with a lot of implications on the line. The Terriers fought hard against the Barons, scoring a late equalizer to earn one point in a 1-1 tie.
The Terriers came out of the gate on fire, creating three chances early to try and score the go ahead goal, but failing to capitalize on any chances to keep a lead. The defense for the Terriers was outstanding in the first half, not letting the Barons have many chances to score. The score heading into the break was knotted up at 0-0.
The beginning of the second half came out similarly to the first, with solid defense playing a role for both teams. The Barons would eventually break through first in the 72nd minute, where they would score to take the 1-0 lead.
It wouldn't take long for the Terriers to respond.
In the 76th minute,
Matthew Cederbloom would draw a crucial foul inside the box for a penalty, giving the Terriers the chance to equalize.
Carmine Boscarello calmly stepped up and slotted home the penalty, tying the game back up at one. This marks a fifth consecutive game with a goal for Boscarello, as he continues to be a scoring threat every single game.
The Terrier defense remained solid throughout the final 15 minutes, with the offense creating chances, pushing for a victory. The Barons and Terriers would eventually end up settling for a 1-1 draw, but not without a impressive showing from the Terriers.
Hiram will be back in action on Wednesday, September 23, when they travel to Geneva College to continue conference play.
