HIRAM, Ohio - September 16, 2026 - Hiram College men's soccer opened PAC play in winning fashion Wednesday evening, earning a 2-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson at Henry Field.
After being held to a scoreless draw by the Presidents last season, the Terriers wasted little time making sure history did not repeat itself.
Carmine Boscarello put Hiram on the board in the 18th minute, heading home a cross from Isaac Rogethien and Taeven Genovese. The goal extended Boscarello's scoring streak to four consecutive games, a feat no other documented student-athlete has accomplished in program history.
The Terriers controlled the opening half, consistently putting pressure on the Washington & Jefferson defense. Hiram recorded 14 shots compared to seven for the Presidents, and nearly doubled its lead when Alex Lineen fired a shot on goal that forced an impressive save from the Washington & Jefferson goalkeeper.
Washington & Jefferson came out with more urgency after halftime, turning the pressure toward the Hiram end. The Presidents outshot the Terriers 9-4 in the second half, but Hiram goalkeeper Derek Ufholz repeatedly kept the visitors off the scoreboard.
Ufholz turned in one of the best performances of his career, recording a career-high seven saves and making multiple stops on chances that appeared heading for the back of the net.
Despite Washington & Jefferson's second-half pressure, Hiram found its insurance goal on one of its few opportunities in the half. Reginal Johnson helped spark a 2-on-1 fast break before finding Jayden Julian, who finished the chance for his first goal of the season.
Boscarello led the Terriers with five shots, while Johnson and Jimmy Zeilmann each recorded three.
With the victory, Hiram moves to 2-0-3 overall and opens PAC play with a win. The Terriers return to Henry Field on Saturday, September 19, when they host conference foe Franciscan at 7 p.m.
