MEADVILLE, Pennsylvania - April 24, 2026 – Hiram combined for 24 hits across two games against Allegheny College – taking both games against the Gators, 11-2 and 10-3, on Friday afternoon at Robertson Softball Field.
With the two wins, the Terriers have clinched a spot in the PAC Tournament and will be the No. 5 seed regardless of what happens the rest of the regular season. The top-six teams in the conference make the year-end tourney, with a spot in the NCAA Tournament automatically awarded to the postseason champion.]
The Terriers have made their conference tournament in six straight seasons (five as a member of the NCAC), extending the longest such streak in program history
Game 1 Recap
Hiram started and finished Game 1 with offensive outbursts, as the offense finished with its second-most runs in a road conference game this season (11, scored 12 twice). It was a balanced lineup all day long, with four different players recording multiple hits and eight different players scoring at least one run.
A first-inning explosion was all Hiram needed for a win to start the day. The first three batters reached base to start the game – setting up Kayla Prigge with a bases-loaded situation. The hot bat of Prigge delivered with an RBI single to open up the scoring. Hannah Marlow followed up with a bases-loaded RBI single of her own.
Hannah Schimmoeller made the score 5-0 with a two-run double. Hiram eventually ran through the entire batting order in the first inning, as Lola Thomas's second at-bat of the inning resulted in a sac fly to cap the first inning lead at six runs.
Hiram had a strong third inning, too, as Danielle Robles took advantage of another bases-loaded situation with an RBI single through the right side. The Terriers' bats remained quiet until the sixth inning – exploding for four more runs and putting the "mercy rule" in effect.
The Terriers added two more runs before Schimmoeller blasted her second two-run double of the game to make the score 11-2. Schimmoeller set a new career-high with four RBI in a single game.
Robles had a team-high three hits – Daynna Mekaru, Marlow and Schimmoeller each added two apiece. Â
Yasmine Clark got the job done in the circle, giving up only two earned runs off eight hits in six innings pitched.
Game 2 Recap
Similar to the first game, Hiram took control over the opposition thanks to its offensive contributions in a single inning – the team scored seven runs in the second frame to put itself in the driver's seat for another conference sweep.
To open the scoring, Emrie Fink put the ball in play with the bases loaded – two runs scored off a error from the Gators defense.
The Terriers continued to deliver with bases loaded, as Ari Torres singled to knock a run in followed by a bases-loaded double from Thomas to increase the lead to 5-0. Megan Moser and Prigge closed out the inning with back-to-back RBI base knocks to carve out a 7-0 edge.
Marlow added two more RBI onto her day with a two-run double to cap the game off with a 10-3 victory. With 21 runs in the two games, Hiram tied its most runs in a single doubleheader this season (21 vs Saint Vincent). It also was the first conference doubleheader that saw Hiram score 10-or-more runs in both contests.
Thomas led the charge going 3-for-4, while Prigge went 2-for-2 with an RBI.  Marlow remained steady through both games – combining for four hits and four RBI.
Sarah Ciereszewski picked up her second win of the season with 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER as the primary relief pitcher.
