Terriers Drop First 2 Games In Fort Myers, FL

FORT MYERS, FL – March 8, 2026- The Terriers opened up their spring break series in Fort Myers, FL on Sunday, when they faced off against the Augustana College Vikings for the first two matchups of an eight-game week. The Terriers fought hard but eventually dropped both games against the Vikings by the scores of 5-2 and 13-3.

Game 1 Recap

For Game 1, the Terriers opened up the scoring early, when Tyler Fernandez blasted a solo shot into left-center field to tie the game at 1-1. The Terriers would follow up that hit with great pitching, as Nicolas Chernitsky threw 6.2 innings and allowed just four earned runs.

The Terriers added on a run in the fourth inning, when Matthew Trimble recorded his second hit of the day, leading to him scoring a run on a John Bender single to right field.

The Vikings would eventually hang on to the 5-2 victory, but not without a spirited effort from the blue and red.

Game 2 Recap

Fernandez would continue his offensive onslaught against Augustana into the second game, as he yet again belted a home run into left-center field. With two home runs this season and 14 for his Hiram career, Fernandez is now tied with Mike Davis for seventh place on the program's all-time leaderboard.

The Terriers would also add on another run in the seventh, when Ben Yoder doubled into right-center to score Kenny Mikalauskas all the way from first base.

Augustana's offense held the upper hand for most of the contest, scoring 13 runs; the team's first three hitters in the batting order combined for six hits.

What's Next

The Terriers will be back in action on Monday, when they continue their series in Fort Myers, FL against Haverford College, with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
