Terriers Win Both Games To Start PAC Play On High Note

HIRAM, Ohio - March 21, 2026 - Hiram made a statement in its return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon, protecting its home field and sweeping the Saint Vincent Bearcats, 15-2 (five innings) and 6-4, at Myrtis E. Herndon Field.

The Terriers tallied 13 hits and got a complete game from Yasmine Clark in Game 1 before the pitching staff allowed just one earned run and came through at the plate in Game 2 to earn the sweep and advance atop the PAC standings.

Game 1 Recap

Hiram's return to Herndon Field was highlighted by an 11-run outburst over the first two innings against the Bearcats. Five different players recorded an RBI hit during that span, including Lola Thomas (RBI single), Megan Moser (RBI single and RBI double), Daynna Mekaru (three-run triple) and Ari Torres (RBI double).

It was the kind of run that not only set the tone for the day, but marked a strong bounce back from a Florida trip against some of the best competition in the country. For the entire game, Hiram had 15 runs on 11 hits, with Torres and Moser having a team-high three hits each.

In the circle, Hiram's Yasmine Clark earned her first victory in the blue and red, working five innings of two-run ball. Clark was efficient, too, throwing only 50 pitches before the "mercy rule" came in effect to end the game after just five innings.

Game 2 Recap

Game 2 followed a different format, but yielded the same result to cap off the sweep of the series. Hiram jumped ahead again, 1-0, before falling behind by three runs (4-1) thanks to four unearned runs that came across to score in the third frame.

Moser continued her breakout season to catapult the Terriers back into contention to win the contest, as she had an RBI groundout in the third and an RBI double in the fifth inning to make it a 4-3 deficit. Hannah Marlow then delivered the game-tying RBI double and Mekaru followed with a go-ahead sacrifice fly, giving Hiram a lead that it wouldn't surrender through the final out.

The pitching staff was again in midseason form, with first-year Avery Contini allowing just one earned run over three innings before Clark returned to the circle and earned a second win behind four shutout innings. Hiram pitchers combined for 12 innings and just three earned runs over the course of the doubleheader.

What's Next

Hiram will hit the road and next take on Bethany for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 3:30 p.m.
