HIRAM, Ohio- February 7, 2026-Â The Hiram College men's basketball team lost a late-game thriller against Waynesburg University, 84-82, on Saturday afternoon inside of Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
It was a vastly close game for almost the entirety of the 40 minutes. The largest lead of the game (13 points) came from the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jacket's run was fueled by the 3-pointer, as they shot 57.1% from beyond the arc in the first half. That lead was quickly erased as the Terriers went on a 12-2 run to enter halftime. Throughout that run, senior Dushawn Hill accounted for 7 of those points as he had 4 points in the paint and an assist on a Collin Jones 3-pointer. Hill scored 10 of his 13 points off the bench in that first half.
At the intermission, Waynesburg led by just one possession, 44-42.
The second half consisted of back-and-forth action, with both teams eventually finish that half with 40 points apiece. The Terrier largest lead of the game (72-66) came with 6:30 left in the game on a Manuel Devora Violan steal into a layup and a Drovinksy Ulysse 3-pointer. The last four minutes consisted of six different lead changes.
The Yellow Jackets ultimately had the lead with 3 seconds to go, and the Terriers could not capitalize on what would've been a game-tying basket at the buzzer.Â
DJ Niles led the team with 15 points on 7-8 shooting from field. Niles also added a career-high 13 rebounds en route to his fourth double-double of the season. Jones (14), Josh Martin (11) and Ulysse (10) joined Niles and Hill in double-figures.Â
The Terriers continue PAC play on Wednesday night, when they hosts the Westminster Titians for the second time this season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside of Price Gymnasium.Â
