ADRIAN, Michigan - February 28, 2026 - The Hiram men's volleyball team returned to non-conference action this weekend, taking on a pair of opponents on the campus of Adrian University. The team beat Maranatha Baptist in three sets before losing to the host institution, Adrian, in three sets.
Match 1: Hiram vs. Maranatha Baptist
The Hiram College men's volleyball team opened Saturday's tri-match with a commanding straight-set victory over Maranatha Baptist University, 3-0, at the Merillat Center. The Terriers controlled the match, earning set wins of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-18. Hiram hit an efficient .245 as a team while holding Maranatha Baptist to just a .033 attack percentage.
Dakotah Welsh led the offensive charge with 13 kills on a .391 hitting percentage, adding two block assists and five digs.
Liam Dwyer contributed six kills while hitting .333, and
Gavin Stewart added four kills on a .333 clip. Setter
Kekoa Tani directed the offense with 17 assists and chipped in four kills of his own.
Defensively, the Terriers totaled 46 digs, paced by
Julian Singles-Torres with 10.
Colin Brooks made an impact from the service line with four aces, as Hiram recorded seven total service aces in the match.
Hiram closed the match with its strongest offensive performance in the third set, recording 16 kills to seal the clean sweep and build momentum heading into their second and final match of the afternoon.

Match 2: Hiram vs. Adrian
The Terriers next faced the host Adrian College, unfortunately falling to the Bulldogs in straight sets: 25-16, 25-20, 25-18.
For the Terriers,
Cullen Sivak paced the offense with eight kills, with
Colin Brooks adding seven and
Liam Dwyer contributing six on an efficient .500 hitting percentage.
Darren Chiang put up 25 assists and recorded nine digs in a balanced effort.
Hiram showed much improvement throughout the match, increasing its hitting percentage each set, including a team-best .114 mark in the third. Defensively, Welsh led the way with 10 digs, while the Terriers finished with 34 total digs and five team blocks.
Despite the setback, the split on the day moves Hiram to 6-5 overall as the Terriers will next continue conference play.
Next up for Hiram is a road conference matchup against the Thiel Tomcats on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
