Titans Take Down Terriers

Johnson Career-High 44 Assists

HIRAM, Ohio — October 28, 2026 — Hiram College women's volleyball dropped a 3-1 PAC matchup to Westminster College on Wednesday evening inside Price Gymnasium. The Terriers fell by set scores of 26-24, 20-25, 22-25 and 23-25.

Despite the four-set loss, Hiram kept the match competitive throughout, battling the Titans in each set and narrowly falling short in the final three.

The Terriers trailed 12-8 early in the opening set before Megan Chiang and Maggie Riley helped spark a comeback with nine combined kills late in the set. Hiram rallied behind its attack to claim a hard fought 26-24 set victory and take an early 1-0 lead.

The second set remained tightly contested, with the teams deadlocked at 18-18 as neither side could establish a clear advantage. Westminster's offense came alive late, however, as the Titans closed the set on a 6-1 run to even the match at one set apiece.

Erin Winfield provided an immediate spark for Hiram in the third set, recording four early kills to energize the Terrier's offense. Westminster regained the lead at 16-15 and maintained its advantage down the stretch, taking the set 25-22 to move ahead 2-1.

Westminster carried that momentum into the fourth set, using a 6-0 run to build a 17-12 advantage. Hiram responded with a determined rally, with several Terriers contributing key points to bring the set back within reach. Chiang delivered a kill to tie the score at 23-23, but the Titans secured the final two points to close out the match, 25-23.

Chiang led the Terriers with a season-high 22 kills while adding 20 digs for a double-double. Sofia Smotek also recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 kills and 19 digs. Courtney Johnson turned in a career-best performance with 44 assists, 12 digs and three service aces.

Hiram will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 31st, when the Terriers host Saint Francis at 1 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
