Terriers Find Balance Against Red Wolves

Terriers Complete 3-0 Sweep

HIRAM, Ohio – October 31, 2026 – Hiram College women's volleyball completed a straight-set sweep of Saint Francis on Saturday afternoon inside Price Gymnasium, earning a 25-15, 25-21, 25-22 victory.

With the win, Hiram moves into a four-way tie among PAC teams with a 7-2 conference record and just two regular-season matches remaining.

The two teams traded points early in the opening set, with a pair of kills from Maggie Riley giving the Terriers a narrow 6-5 advantage. Hiram then capitalized on Red Wolves attacking errors and a service ace from Tori Burdette to build a 12-7 lead. The Terriers maintained control from there, closing the set on a 7-2 run that included another ace from Burdette to take the opening frame, 25-15.

The second and third sets proved much closer, but Hiram showed an improved ability to finish tight sets and capitalize on key moments.

Riley once again helped the Terriers establish an early advantage in the second set with several kills before Megan Chiang took over offensively down the stretch. Chiang recorded six kills in the frame to help Hiram secure a 25-21 win and take a commanding 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, Sofia Smotek provided an early spark with four consecutive kills to give Hiram a 6-4 advantage. Madison Dustman followed with three straight kills of her own to extend the lead. The Terriers relied on their balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort down the stretch to hold off the Red Wolves and complete the sweep with a 25-22 victory.

Riley and Chiang led the Terriers with nine kills apiece, while Smotek and Dustman each added eight. Dustman was particularly efficient, posting an outstanding .800 hitting percentage. Smotek also paced Hiram defensively with 18 digs, while Courtney Johnson dished out 18 assists.

Hiram will return to the court Wednesday evening when the Terriers travel to Grove City for a rematch of the 2025 PAC Championship. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
