HIRAM, Ohio – January 24, 2026 - Hiram College's men's basketball team fell just short in a hard-fought battle against Chatham, losing 62-59 in PAC action at Price Gymnasium. The game featured nine lead changes and no team leading by more than 7 points for the entirety of the game.
It was a game that saw the Terriers clicking on all cylinders in the second half after grinding it out in a grind-it-out first half that included just 58 points between the two teams.
Freshman Drovinksy Ulysses was a catalyst for the Terriers with his first career double-double, as he had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Collin Jones (11), Avery Scott (9), and Brock Makrancy (8) rounded out the low-scoring, defensive-minded affair.
Chatham's largest lead of 7 points came at the start of the second half. Hiram responded with a 14-7 run to take their first lead of the half, which was capped by a Scott 3-pointer, making the score 43-42. The Terriers got up by as many as 5 points with 6:50 left to go in the game, but a 10-2 run by Chatham put them back up by 5 points.
Scott and Makrancy made back-to-back 3-pointers for the Terriers to go back on top by 2 points with 2:57 left. A three-pointer and made free throws allowed Chatham to reclaim the lead.
Hiram secured a pivotal stop with 32 seconds remaining and set up a look to tie the game at the buzzer. Ultimately, the Cougars defense secured a game-winning stop.
Hiram returns to the hardwood on Wednesday night, when it travels to Grove City, PA to take on the Grove City Wolverines in a PAC re-match. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
