WORCESTER, Massachusetts – January 23, 2026 – Hiram opened its weekend with a close 5-3 loss to Worcester State.
The Terriers started things off hot out the gate, with Conner Randell grabbing the puck off the face- off to get a shot off in the first 30 seconds of the first period. Despite the early momentum, the Terriers closed out the first period down by just one goal.
Goalie
Ian Amaranto faced some offensive pressure on Friday evening, tallying 53 saves while playing just shy of the full 60 minutes. Amaranto recorded at least 17 saves per period and made a variety of key stops during extended defensive sequences, not allowing Worcester to score in their various power-play opportunities.
There were three goals in Friday evening's contest for the Terriers, as the team found the back of the net back-to-back just seconds apart, starting with Keith Smiliowitz with an assist from Mitchell and the second scored by
Markus Olson with some help from
Noah Proulx and
Gino Haynes. The third goal was an unassisted score by Smiliowitz, making him one of three Terriers to reach four goals on the season (
Anthony Arthurs,
Tyler Arthurs)
Hiram finished in the even in the face-off circle, going 31–31, with
Sam West going 9-5 in faceoffs.
Hiram will look to continue their tour of New England with an evening match against Anna Maria College in Auburn, Massachusetts at 4:40 p.m. at Horgan Ice Rink on Saturday.
