Terriers Tested in Home Contest Against Cougars

Hiram Holds Firm Early, Falls to Chatham in Home Matchup

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio – January 16, 2026 – Hiram fought hard through a scoreless opening period on Friday afternoon but ultimately fell, 4–0, to Chatham at The Pond.

The Terriers and Cougars were locked in a defensive struggle throughout the first period, with neither side finding the back of the net but seeing some close calls from both sides. Despite the afternoon's result, goalie Ian Amaranto delivered a strong performance in net for Hiram, stopping 49 shots in 60 minutes. The Terriers generated 30 shots of their own from various Terriers in the lineup, including Cole Mitchell (five), Tyler Arthurs (four), Anthony Arthurs (three), Marco Taffo (three) and Shane Ward (three).

Defensively, Hiram blocked 12 shots, led by  Mitchell, who finished with three blocks, and Sam West with two blocks. The Terriers also created late pressure on a third-period man advantage but were unable to capitalize.

Hiram will hit the road for a rematch against the Beloit Buccaneers in Janesville, WI on Sunday at 8:30 CT (9:30 ET).
