Hiram Finds Dominant Form In 4-1 Victory Over Heidelberg

Terriers Win First Match at Henry Field, Level Record At 1-1

HIRAM, Ohio – September 3, 2025 – Hiram men's soccer was victorious on Wednesday night, as they defeated Heidelberg, 4-1, at Henry Field. It was a dominant effort for the Terriers, who were playing their first game in front of the home crowd as part of a 2025 season that marks the program's exciting return to the PAC.

The win also marks the first of the 2025 campaign following a tough loss to Oberlin, as the team looks to keep the momentum going in the early stages of the non-conference schedule.

"It was a good response," said Alex Lineen, who had his second career multi-goal game to help secure a victory for the Terriers.

Lineen scored the first Terriers goal when Reginald Johnson drew a penalty in the 15th minute, which Lineen calmly slotted home to make it a 1-0 game. Lineen also scored the next goal, as he slotted home a header from the throw-in of Jimmy Zeilmann in the 27th minute.

Zeilmann also added another assist from a throw-in, when he passed the ball to Taeven Genovese, who found Matthew Cederbloom for another header goal in the 37th minute. It marked the first career goal by Cederbloom as a Hiram Terrier.

Finally, Johnson stole away a pass from a Heidelberg defender and took it himself to score a goal in the 54th minute to make it 4-0.

"I knew I had to work on my game over the summer," Johnson said. "Just have to keep improving and put some balls in the back of the net."

Heidelberg added a goal late in the game, when Connor Cheezum scored to narrow the gap to 4-1, but the Terriers held up and secured a hard-earned victory.

The Terriers controlled the offensive side, where they outshot Heidelberg 26-12 and had 10 shots on goal to Heidelberg's six.

Hiram men's soccer will be back in action on Saturday, when they welcome the Comets of Olivet to Henry Field for a 1 p.m. start.
