NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania - September 24, 2025 – The evening started off a little rocky, but the Terriers found the form that has made them one of the best teams in the PAC up to this point in the season, as Hiram posted a major comeback and reverse swept Westminster (15-25, 26-28, 25-18, 25-18, 15-9) to push to a 10-1 record and keep their remarkable win streak alive. The victory extends the streak to eight straight matches, which is the longest string of wins since the team won 10 straight to start the 2018 campaign.
The Terriers started slow in the early stages, putting up 10 kills in the first set but getting bogged down with eight attack errors. Hiram fell in a 1-0 hole but battled in the second set, with there being seven different lead changes during that span. First-years
Megan Chiang and
Sofia Smotek combined for 15 kills in the second set, but the team couldn't finish it off in what shaped out to be a 28-26 win for the Titans.
Things starting clicking in sets three and four for the Terriers, as they took back-to-back wins, 25-18 and 25-18, to force a winner-take-all fifth set. Chiang and Smotek added to their career-high totals, which finished at 18 and 23 kills respectively.
Kelly Hoffman also recorded 45 assists and a season-high 24 digs to fuel the resilient effort.
Hiram pulled out all the stops in the fifth set, jumping out to a 10-2 and eventually a 14-4 advantage. The Titans scored five straight points to stay alive, but a service error sealed the deal and carved out another hard-fought road victory for a Terriers team that's won in just about every way over the last month.
Hiram will finish off the week back home with a tri-match against the Saint Vincent Bearcats and the Mount Union Raiders on Saturday; Hiram's matches are slated for start times of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
