HIRAM, Ohio - September 20, 2025 - It was a storybook ending to the non-conference season for the Hiram men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as the Terriers celebrated Senior Day and rolled to a 6-0 victory over Pitt Greensburg at Henry Field.
The six goals marked Hiram's most goals in a home game since September 24, 2013 against Mount Aloysius, while the victory gave the team a 4-3 record and full momentum heading into the start of conference play this upcoming week.
"That went about as good as it could have," head coach Joe Chmura said following the victory. "We were really pushing to break through and open it up because we had a majority of the possession."
The Terriers posted six goals from five different student-athletes, with Alex Lineen recording his third career game with two goals to lead the way. Carmine Boscarello added his first goal of the campaign, while CJ Timm, Tim Stephens and Cory Plunkett each tallied their first career goals in the match.
For Timm and Stephens, along with seniors Connor Hecker and Rafael Rodriguez, the day provided a special opportunity to honor their time on the Hiram College campus and with the Terriers men's soccer program.
"It's nice to be able to get out on the field and have a good time," said Hecker, who has overcome injuries throughout his career before making his Terriers debut on Saturday (two saves as goalkeeper).
Stephens recorded his first career goal on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, while Timm scored in the 83rd minute after a previous goal in the game was called off due to an offsides call. Stephens was appearing in his fourth career match, while Timm was making his first collegiate appearance away from the goalkeeper position (started 14 games and recorded 90 saves in 2022).
For both student-athletes, the day provided some memories that will forever live in the history of Hiram Athletics.
"I took a breath for a second when (Coach Chmura) told me and I was like, 'OK, I'll do this,'" Stephens said of when he was called upon to take the penalty kick. "I normally shoot it to the left and did it like it was nothing."
"It was amazing," Timm said of his goal. "There's so much promise for this team. To be out there and score in my on-the-field debut – it's great. I love it."
Plunkett added a goal in the 88th minute to seal the victory and lift the Terriers to another win. The team is now 4-0 at home this season, which features a goal differential of 14 goals (15-1).
Hiram will look to build upon that home success when it returns to the field on Wednesday for the start of PAC play. The Terriers will host Thiel at 8:30 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, OH.
