Fernandez Keeps Hot Bat, Walker Jr. Moves Closer To Single-Season Hits Record In DH At Wooster

Terriers Lose Final Road Games Of 2025 Season

WOOSTER, Ohio - April 29, 2025 - Hiram dropped both games of a doubleheader at Wooster, 12-2 (7 innings) and 9-6, on Tuesday at Art Murray Field.

Despite the losses, Hal Walker Jr. recorded three hits over the two games to reach 61 hits for the season; he is now three base knocks away from breaking the single-season program record set by Mike Dobran in 1998 (63).

Tyler Fernandez was the team's leader in terms of offensive production; the junior power-hitter finished the day going 5-for-9 at the plate with a double, triple and three RBI. Luke Snider and Ben Yoder also had multi-hit efforts between the two contests.

The hitter-friendly conditions of Art Murray Field played in favor of the Fighting Scots, who recorded seven home runs and 14 extra-base hits. To counter, Hiram's biggest offensive contributions came in the form of an RBI triple by Fernandez in Game 1, as well as a two-run single by Fernandez and two-run double by Nate Thomas in Game 2.

Despite holding a 2-0 lead in Game 1 and staying within striking distance for all of Game 2, Wooster held on for the home wins to improve its record to 11-3 in conference play and 22-14 overall.

The Terriers will now close out the season with four home games, beginning with a doubleheader against Thiel on Wednesday. First pitch for Game 1 is slated for 2 p.m. at Fishel Field.
