Hiram Silences The Bearcats with Dominant Road Win

Martini’s 19 Kills Power Terriers to Conference Victory

LATROBE, Pennsylvania – March 29, 2025 - The Hiram men's volleyball team bounced back in a big way on Saturday, grinding out a four-set victory over Saint Vincent at the Carey Center.

From the opening set, Hiram established control with a fast-paced attack and relentless defense, cruising to a 25-14 win. Saint Vincent responded with a gritty second set effort, edging out the Terriers, 27-25, to even the match. The pivotal third set saw Hiram hold off a late Bearcats' surge to win 28-26 before finishing strong with a commanding 25-16 fourth-set victory.

Kyle Martini was unstoppable at the net, leading all players with 19 kills while hitting .366. He also made his presence felt defensively, recording a match-high seven total blocks. Jackson Deubner added 13 kills and eight digs, while Derek Chiang was a difference-maker from the service line with five aces to go along with 10 kills.

Matthew Albano ran the offense with precision, dishing out 39 assists and chipping in defensively with five digs and three block assists. Connor Tilton anchored the back row with 18 digs, frustrating Saint Vincent's hitters all afternoon. Hiram's net defense played a crucial role in the win, as Garrett Scheidegger and Cullen Sivak combined for six blocks, limiting the Bearcats to a .067 hitting percentage in the final set.
