CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana - March 29, 2025 - Hiram lost its first two games of the conference season on Saturday at Goodrich Ballpark, as a six-hit doubleheader from Hal Walker Jr. and a 14-hit effort from the offense in Game 2 wasn't enough in a competitive NCAC clash.
Game 1 Recap
The Terriers had opportunities to score throughout the first game of the day, but six runners were stranded on base despite the team's seven hits. Evan Fairbanks had his first multi-hit game since Mar. 11 out of the cleanup spot in the batting order and teamed with Logan Gallentine for both of Hiram's RBI hits in the game.
Wabash's offense proved to be the difference, with the Little Giants making the most of their 11 hits and six walks by stealing six bases. Caleb Everson logged a complete game to help the home team to victory.
Game 2 Recap
Walker Jr. tied the program record and tied a career-high for hits in a single game, tallying five base knocks – which included RBI singles in the third and sixth inning – out of the two-hole in the lineup. It also marked Walker Jr.'s most hits in a conference game, with the second RBI single lifting his team to a 5-2 lead in the top of the sixth.
Wabash would fight back, though, as Nicolas Chernitsky had a strong start before the Little Giants combined for seven runs between the sixth and seventh innings. Five different players recorded multiple hits for Wabash.
Matthew Trimble also played a key role for the offense, breaking out for two hits and a season-high three RBI. The junior corner infielder recorded an RBI single in the third frame and later belted a two-run double in the fifth inning.
Despite totaling 14 hits and also receiving multi-hit games from Chaisson Marrs and Ben Yoder, the late surge from Wabash sealed the NCAC sweep.

Hiram will stay on the road for another NCAC doubleheader on Tuesday, when it travels to Gambier, OH and takes on Kenyon College. Game 1 is slated for a 12 p.m. first pitch.
