BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania - March 26, 2025 – In a tightly contested conference showdown, the Hiram men's volleyball team pushed Geneva to the limit but came up just short in a five-set battle on Wednesday evening.
Kyle Martini led the Terriers with 18 kills and 22 total points, while
Derek Chiang added 13 kills and 13 points.
Jackson Deubner also made a strong offensive contribution with 12 kills. Setter
Matthew Albano facilitated the attack with 40 assists and showcased his all-around game with 14 digs.
On the defensive end,
Connor Tilton anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs, while Albano and Chiang each tallied double-digit digs to keep Hiram in the match.
Garrett Scheidegger and
Colin Brooks provided key blocks at the net, with Brooks registering a solo block and three block assists.
After splitting the first four sets, Geneva found the edge in the decisive fifth set, capitalizing on key plays down the stretch to secure the victory.
Hiram will look to rebound as it continue its conference schedule with a match against the Saint Vincent Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
