KISSIMMEE, Florida - March 14, 2025 - Hiram finished The Spring Games with a 5-3 record following a 3-0 win over Catholic University and a 3-1 loss to Lake Forest on Friday afternoon at the Fortune Road Fields.
Pitching was the biggest strength for the Terriers, with Darian Kanno throwing her fourth straight complete game without an earned run and Lillie Greene following suit with her first career complete game, too.
Game 1 Recap vs Catholic
Kanno has now thrown 28 straight innings without allowing an earned run to begin the 2025 season, capping off her dominant week with another seven frames of efficient work in the circle. Catholic University only advanced one runner past second base for the entirety of the outing, which came in the first inning.
The senior from Mililani, HI retired 15 of the last 16 hitters she faced, with the only baserunner during that span reaching on a fielding error. Kanno's ERA remained at 0.00 and her record improved to 4-0 thanks to a final line of 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 8 K.
Kanno also performed well in the batter's box, delivering the decisive blow in the first inning on a two-run single. Danielle Robles later added insurance on an RBI single in the fourth frame, proving her versatility atop the batting order.
For Kanno, the performance also marked her first shutout of the season, giving her nine shutouts over the course of her four years with the program. Only Hall of Famer Whitney Dropsey (12 shutouts) is ahead of Kanno on Hiram's all-time list.
Game 2 Recap vs Lake Forest
Greene was the star of the show in Game 2, bouncing back from three runs (two earned) allowed over the first two innings and finishing with her first complete game at the collegiate level. Similar to Kanno, she retired 10 of the last 12 batters and finished with a line of 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K.
The Terriers matched the opposition with seven hits, which included three straight one-out singles in the seventh inning. With the tying run at first base and the go-ahead run at the plate, Hiram cracked the scoring barrier on a RBI groundout from Fayth Kawamura before another groundout brought the game to a close.
