GAMBIER, Ohio – February 8, 2025 – Hiram College's men's basketball team fought hard but came up short in a 77-55 road loss against Kenyon at Tomsich Arena. Despite the final score, the Terriers showed flashes of strong play.
Hiram kept pace early, with
Trent Jakacki scoring from all areas of the court. His sharp shooting and strong drives to the basket accounted for 17 of the Terriers' 29 first-half points.
Ivan Yang added 7 points and grabbed seven rebounds, providing a strong inside presence. However, Kenyon's balanced attack allowed them to take a 40-29 lead into halftime.
The Terriers continued battling in the second half, with Jakacki finishing with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Hiram's defense forced turnovers and continued to push the pace, but Kenyon maintained control with efficient scoring and clutch three-point shooting.
Despite the outcome, Hiram's resilience was evident as players with players like
Galdan Batzorig and
Brock Makrancy making key contributions off the bench, combining for 10 points and adding to the team's defensive effort.
Hiram looks to regroup and build on its positive moments as the season continues with the next matchup on Wednesday at 8 p.m. back in Price Gymnasium against Oberlin.
