Hiram Falls To Oberlin Despite Late Surge

Terriers Will Next Face Nationally Ranked Team In Denison

HIRAM, Ohio - February 12, 2025 - The Hiram men's basketball finished strong in a 69-58 loss to Oberlin on Wednesday evening at Price Gymnasium, with the team turning a 19-point second-half deficit into just an 8-point margin before the Yeomen finished the game and held on for the win.

Brock Makrancy had one of his best games of the season to lead the home team, posting a team-high 14 points and adding four rebounds and three assists off the bench. Trent Jakacki filled the stat sheet in the starting lineup, too: 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Hiram earned its production in the post, winning the head-to-head battle in paint points, 32-26. The Terriers also held their opposition to just a 32% FG pct in the second half, but Oberlin went 13-17 from the free-throw line during that span to claim the conference victory.

The Terriers will now turn their attention to Denison, which will enter play this weekend as the 20th-ranked team in all of Division III, according to D3Hoops.com. The two teams are slated to tip-off around 3 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's game at 1 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
