Mayer Nears 70 Career Goals With 3-Goal Night vs Alma

Hiram Falls To Scots On Tuesday At Henry Field

HIRAM, Ohio – February 25, 2025 – Hiram's Ethan Mayer recorded his 11th career game with at least three goals in an 18-3 loss to Alma on Tuesday evening at Henry Field.

The sixth-year student-athlete found the back of the net on three of his team-high 11 shot attempts, fueling an offense that was tasked with facing a pair of Alma goalkeepers who combined for an impressive 11 saves. Aaron Gardner and Trevor Nordstrom each had an assist in the game, while Gray Perry was effective in tallying nine ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

The Scots were spearheaded by an offensive outburst from MJ Humphreys (seven goals), Dylan Smith (four goals) and Lucas Storm (three goals). Kevin Koenn led the visiting team in total points, recording two goals and seven assists on the evening.

For Mayer, the three goals now gives him 68 career goals, which ranks fifth in program history. The Fairview Park, OH native is nearing Hunter Jenkins (79 career goals) for fourth on that all-time list.

Hiram will begin a four-game road trip on Saturday, when it travels to New Wilmington, PA for a road matchup against a future PAC opponent in Westminster. Opening face-off is slated for 4 p.m. at the UPMC Sports Complex.
