Hiram Rips Off 2 Late Goals, Finds Stride In 3rd Period Of 5-2 Loss vs MCLA

Terriers Drop Home Opener Despite Momentum

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio - November 7, 2025 - A late surge from the Hiram offense provided a spark moving forward in the weekend, as the Terriers got goals from Harrison Flaacke and Markus Olson in a 5-2 loss to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) inside The Pond in Chagrin Falls, OH.

The game marked the first official home game for Hiram, which posted a season-high two goals and ignited a crowd of over 400 fans in the closing stages of the contest. The two teams will be playing a two-game series, which opens the door for the Terriers to ride their late momentum into Saturday.

Keith Smilowitz picked up an assist on Flacke's goal, giving him two assists on the young campaign. That goal came just over a minute after Markus Olson's unassisted goal late in the third period; Olson now leads the team with two goals.

The Trailblazers were in control prior to that rally from the home team, as they tallied 66 shots, 38 of which were on net. The team also executed on one of its two power plays, while Hiram went one-for-four in those opportunities.

Despite the loss, Hiram will have a quick turnaround and a great chance to respond on Saturday, when they host MCLA at 2:55 p.m.
