Hiram Men’s Hockey Picks Up 1st Win In Program History Against MCLA

Terriers Earn Shutout, Pick Up 4-0 Win

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio – November 8, 2025- Hiram men's hockey picked up their first win in program history on Saturday afternoon, earning a 4-0 victory over the visiting MCLA Trailblazers.

The Terriers struck first, scoring two goals in the first period, before never looking back as they cruised to a four-goal victory. The Terriers had a true team effort, having three players score in the Saturday afternoon contest.

The Terriers scored early in the first period, when Anthony Arthurs slotted home a beautiful pass from Cole Mitchell, which gave the Terriers the one-goal lead three minutes into the game. Then, a minute later, the Terriers would strike again, when Keith Smilowitz finessed a shot past the goalie from the pass of Sam West to give the Terriers the two-goal cushion, which they took to the end of the first period.

Early in the second period, Tyler Arthurs would take advantage off of a deflection on the MCLA defender, as he scored an unassisted goal for his first goal on the young season.

Arthurs was not finished scoring on the night.

Late in the third period, Tyler Arthurs slotted home an empty-net goal from center ice to seal the Hiram victory and notching their first ever home victory at The Pond.

Defensively, Ian Amaranto was excellent in goal, posting a shutout and notching an impressive 38 saves on the afternoon. This was an important part for Hiram to earn the well-fought victory against a skilled Trailblazer team.

Hiram men's hockey will be back in action next Friday, when they welcome the Buccaneers of Beloit College for a three-game weekend series at The Pond. The first game of the series is set for a 9:40 p.m. puck drop.
