Pretorius Scores Late In Loss To Beloit

Hiram Drops Weekend Opener To Buccaneers

HIRAM, Ohio - November 14, 2025 - Hiram scored in the final minute of a 6-1 loss to Beloit on Friday evening at The Pond, as Neil Pretorius recorded his first goal of the season off of passes from Ryan Johnston and Marco Taffo.

It was a high note to end a game that saw the Buccaneers take control, with the visiting team tallying 47 shots on goal, 23 of which came in the second period. Ben Stewart had a two-goal game to give his team its first win in program history.

Hiram started strong in the first period, holding the opposition to just nine shots, while Keith Smilowitz nearly found the back of the net on an early shot attempt. Beloit held strong, though, particularly in terms of its defense in the early stages.

The Buccaneers then found their form offensively in the second period, rattling off numerous shot attempts and scoring twice between the start and end of the period. That momentum continued into the third period, when the team tacked on another three goals to all but seal the contest.

The Terriers went out with some momentum, as Pretorius scored on one of his two shots on net in the final frame. Pretorius is the sixth different Hiram student-athlete to score a goal this season.

Hiram will return to the ice on Saturday, when it wraps up the series with Beloit at 4:05 p.m. in Chagrin Falls, OH.
