ALFRED, New York – November 7, 2025 – The Hiram men's basketball team picked up a win in their season opener Friday night, as they cruised to a 93-80 victory over the Alfred State Pioneers. This is the first game for the Terriers in the Crossbar Alfred Classic and officially advances them to the "winners game" on Saturday on the campus of Alfred University.
The Terriers exploded on offense Friday night, scoring 46 points in the first half and 47 points in the second half, creating for a well-balanced attack that was too much for the Pioneers. The Terriers also shared the wealth, as 12 different players scored for the Terriers, making them tough to defend.
Hiram was led by the outstanding game of Collin Jones, who scored an impressive 19 points, and also grabbed five rebounds. Also crossing the 10-point barrier was Avery Scott, who finished with 11 for the Terriers. Finishing with 6 points was Josh Martin, who also had an impressive 8 assists on the night.
Also scoring their first career NCAA baskets was Drovinsky Ulysse and Liam Gopalakrishna, who finished with 2 and 3 points, respectively.
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they prepare for the second day of the Crossbar Alfred Classic, facing Lycoming College set for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
