BUFFALO, New York - November 1, 2025 - Hiram men's ice hockey lost in the weekend finale at the Buffalo State Bengals Classic, falling to the host institution by a score of 3-0 on Saturday late afternoon at Ice Arena.
Â
The Terriers were again led by goalkeeper Mark Paton, who had 45 saves and another strong clip with a .933 save percentage. The game marked the first career start for Paton.
Â
Keith Smilowitz had a team-high three shots, while Markus Olson and Sam Morganti each had two shots throughout the game. Hiram found multiple scoring opportunities throughout the first and third periods, when they had six shots in each period, but couldn't find the back of the net in a competitive affair with the Bengals.
Â
On the opposing side, Buffalo State's Michael Marquez, Tyler Penree and David Tolan each scored a goal to give the home team its first win of the campaign.
Â
Hiram will now return home for what figures to be a big week ahead; the team will host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a pair of games on Friday (9:40 p.m.) and Saturday (2:55 p.m.) inside The Pond in Chagrin Falls, OH.
