Hiram Falls Short To Geneva Despite First-Half Equalizer

Terriers Still Battling In PAC Standings Despite Loss to Golden Tornadoes

HIRAM, Ohio – October 17,2025- The Hiram men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Geneva on a Saturday late afternoon contest at Henry Field. The Terriers fought hard and kept the stingy Golden Tornadoes to a tightly contested match.

The Terriers remained in the game the whole way through, contesting every ball and making it tough for the Geneva offense, as it was one first-half play that stood above the rest to equalize the game.

The first part of the first half was back-and-forth, as neither team could gain an edge and the Terriers were playing tough. Then, in the 21st minute, the Golden Tornadoes struck first and jumped out to the early lead. It seemed like the Golden Tornadoes were going to carry that lead into the break until the Terriers responded.

Late in the first half, Erik Rangel Negrete took a corner that got deflected and found the foot of Kamran Walton, who passed it back to Rangel Negrete, who put another cross into the box, where it found Jayden Julian. Julian then headed the ball home to tie the game, 1-1, moving into the half.

Geneva came out early in the second half and responded with another goal, but the Terriers would not give up and kept pressing the Golden Tornadoes to get another chance at a goal. Late in the second half, Geneva added on another goal, which proved to be the final goal of the game.

Despite this loss, the Terriers are still tied for sixth place in the PAC standings, which puts them in contention for a spot in the PAC Tournament with three matches still to play.

The Hiram men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday night, when they host the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg for an 8 p.m. kickoff at Henry Field.
