BETHANY, West Virginia – October 18, 2025 – Hiram has now won its most games in a season since 2016 following a 42-21 win over Bethany at Bison Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Terriers improve to 3-3 (2-3 PAC) and now have sole possession of sixth place out of the 11 teams in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
The dominant victory marked one of Hiram's best performances of the season, as the offense tallied six touchdowns and the defense didn't allow more than one score in either of the four quarters. The team also had season-highs in passing yards (440), rushing touchdowns (two, T-most) and fumble recoveries (four).
Individually,
Sean Tejeda went 28-for-43 for a career-high 440 passing yards and four touchdowns. It marks the second-most passing yards in a single game in program history (Xavier Reyero, 514 at Ohio Wesleyan in 2021); Tejeda also has 2,095 passing yards for the 2025 season, which is already the second-most passing yards in a single season in program history, trailing Robert Patridge's 2,167 passing yards in 2014.
Wide receiver
Da'Vaughn Lewis caught two of those touchdown passes and finished with a career-high 95 receiving yards, while running back
RJ Johnson had a pair of rushing scores for the first time in his career.
Devyn Mercilliott spearheaded the defense with a team-high nine tackles – including a tackle for loss – and
Ayden Smith and Kenta Pool each forced a fumble as part of a steady defensive effort.
Hiram pulled ahead in the first quarter, 13-0, thanks to a 17-yard TD pass to Lewis and an interception by
Kade Scott that set up the Terriers to score again shortly thereafter. Johnson then rushed it in from 17 yards out to make it a two-score game.
Johnson was responsible for the remainder of the first-half offense, recording a 3-yard touchdown run before Bethany made it a 19-7 score heading into the intermission.
The second half was defined by explosiveness, as Hiram had three different TD passes of at least 30 yards during that span: 55-yard TD to
Kevin Dycks midway through the third quarter, 54-yard TD to
Jordan Stapleton toward the end of the third quarter and a 31-yard TD to Lewis early in the fourth quarter. For the game, Tejeda had an average of 15.7 yards per completion, which was his third game of 2025 with at least 15 yards per completion.
That flurry of offense was more than enough to carry Hiram to the finish line, as the team officially punched its ticket to a .500 record heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
Hiram now has home games in three of its last four games, beginning with a matchup against Allegheny next Saturday at 3 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, OH.
