GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – October 1, 2025 – The Terriers took a hard-fought conference loss against the Thiel Tomcats on Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 in close sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) on the road. The defeat snapped Hiram's 10-game winning streak, which was tied with the start of the 2018 season for the program's longest win streak over the last 10 seasons.
Senior Kelly Hoffman put up a strong effort both offensively and defensively, pulling together 22 assists, 10 digs and five kills on the board.
On the defensive end, there were solid blocking efforts all around, with senior Riley France assisting on two blocks to lead the way. Offensively, Megan Chiang and Sofia Smotek fueled the Terriers with 11 and eight kills respectively.
Hiram held an 11-5 lead in the first set, 8-3 lead in the second set and came within one point of tying the match late in the third set, but the home team prevailed in the big moments.
Despite the hard loss, Hiram still maintains good positioning atop the PAC North Division standings, with the Terriers currently tied with Thiel for first place with 4-1 conference records each.
Hiram will look to restart things back at home on Saturday at 1 p.m., when it takes on the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg for another conference matchup in Price Gymnasium.
