WOOSTER, Ohio - January 29, 2025 - The Hiram Terriers faced a tough road test against the College of Wooster on Wednesday evening, falling 85-72 in Timken Gymnasium despite a big night from the team's bench.
Collin Jones led the Terriers' scoring effort with 15 points and also added two rebounds and two assists. Jones accounted for a third of Hiram's 45 bench points in the game, with
Jaden Hameed (8),
DJ Niles (7),
Mitchell Wiechecki (6) and
Brock Makrancy (6) also fueling the impressive night for the second unit.
Josh Martin contributed 10 points, including two key three-pointers, while
Trent Jakacki added 8 points alongside his teammate in the starting backcourt. Hiram also shot 56% (14-25) from the field in the second half to finish the contest on a high note.
Wooster, led by Jamir Billings' game-high 27 points and Breckman Oakley's 18-point performance, capitalized on 13 three-pointers to take home the win.
The game was tightly contested in the first half, with Hiram trailing by just five points at halftime, 37-32. However, Wooster built a 14-point lead midway through the second half, which Hiram was unable to overcome despite moments of offensive surges.
Next up for the Terriers is a road game against the DePauw Tigers on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Terriers will look to bounce back and capture a key conference win.
