HIRAM, Ohio – January 25, 2025 – Hiram College's men's basketball team fell just short in a hard-fought battle against Wabash, losing 79-73 in NCAC action at Price Gymnasium. The game featured sharp shooting, strong defensive plays and a resilient effort by the Terriers in front of their home crowd.
The game started with both teams exchanging leads in a back-and-forth first half. Hiram's
Ivan Yang caught fire early, knocking down five 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 24 points. Wabash countered with a balanced attack led by Randy Kelley, who scored 20 points, and Vinny Buccilla, adding 14 points.
Wabash held a slight edge at the break, leading 43-38, as its ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities and transition buckets gave it the upperhand.
Hiram battled it out in the second half, with
Jaden Hameed providing a spark off the bench, scoring 21 points and connecting on a career-high five 3-pointers. Yang continued his hot shooting and the Terriers clawed their way back to within striking distance multiple times.
Wabash, however, remained composed, converting key free throws down the stretch and Noah Hupmann dominated the boards with a game-high 16 rebounds. The Little Giants held off Hiram's late-game surge with critical defensive stops and clutch free-throw shooting, sealing the win.
Despite the result, Hiram showed heart and shooting prowess, giving them something to build on as the season progresses as it will next hit the road for a conference matchup against Wooster on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
