HIRAM, Ohio - July 26, 2024 - Hiram women's basketball announced the addition of Jayla Wehner to its coaching staff earlier this week, joining head coach Alexandra Dellas and assistant coach Skye Green. It's another exciting step for the Terriers, who finished sixth in a highly competitive NCAC this past season before falling to an Ohio Wesleyan team that eventually made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wehner brings significant postseason experience to the Hiram program, as she just finished a four-year playing career as a point guard at Marian University (NAIA, Indianapolis, IN). Marian won at least 27 games in each of Wehner's four seasons with the program, which included three appearances in the Round of 8 and one appearance in the Round of 16 in the NAIA Tournament.

Wehner logged 125 games of action as a member of the Knights backcourt, which included single-game career-highs of 16 points in February 2023 and 11 assists in November 2024. She finished her senior season in 2023-24 with the fifth-highest assists per game average on the roster, with her team winning the Crossroad League Tournament and advancing to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Tournament.

Wehner was a standout student during her time in Indianapolis, too, as a three-time NAIA Scholar Athlete (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24). She earned a Bachelor of Science in both exercise science and psychology, in addition to minoring in biology, before graduating this past May with a cumulative GPA of 3.8.

Hiram women's basketball will return to campus in August before officially beginning competition in November. The team will play its final season in the NCAC in 2024-25 before Hiram College transitions to full-time competition in the PAC (Presidents' Athletic Conference) in 2025-26.
