HIRAM, Ohio - April 17, 2024 - The Terriers honored their graduating class of seniors on Wednesday evening and came away with a win against Hilbert College, 11-6, at Henry Field.

The Hiram men's lacrosse team celebrated their five graduating seniors in
William Luketich,
Brett Johnson,
Noah Pilgram,
David Angarita and assistant coach
Isaac Keeno. Each senior was accompanied by their loved ones before the start of the game, a special moment that eventually led to an impactful performance in the non-conference battle.

The game was a back-and-forth affair in the first quarter, with neither team gaining control through the first 15 minutes (3-3 score). It wasn't until the second quarter when the momentum of the game started to shift, as Hiram scored four goals due to its aggressive play. The team was particularly effective on faceoffs, with Luketich winning 18 of 20 faceoffs for the game and giving his team an immediate advantage throughout the contest.

Hiram rode this momentum for the rest of the game, as it went on a 4-1 run to finish the second half and ultimately level the team's home record at 3-3.

Johnson and Pilgram led Hiram in goals, with both scoring three times while having a combined 14 shots on goal during the game. Luketich collected 13 ground balls, which put him in the history books for the most ground balls in a single season by a Hiram men's lacrosse student-athlete (116). The record was previously held by Liam Pinney at 114 ground balls in 2019.

Hiram played with a ton of aggression in the game and forced 17 turnovers on defense.Hilbert could not bounce back in the second half, as Hiram finished the game also leading in clears and saves.

Hiram will look to show off more of its impressive play this season in its next matchup with Wittenberg University on Saturday; the game will be held in Springfield, OH starting at 1 p.m. at Edwards-Maurer Field.
