Albano, Martini Lead Comeback Against Geneva

Hiram Moves To 2nd Spot In Conference

HIRAM, Ohio - March 20, 2024 - Hiram extended its win streak to three with a come-from-behind win over Geneva College on Wednesday evening at Price Gymnasium.

It was a game where juniors Kyle Martini and Matthew Albano spearheaded the team after it lost the first set of the match, 27-25. Martini led the game in kills with 21, while tying the game-high in blocks (two) with Albano. Martini now has two games this season with 20+ kills (23 kills vs Olivet on February 10).

Albano led the game in assists (43) and service aces (two), while also having four kills during the match, which only added to one of his best games this season.

The first set was neck-and-neck, but Geneva scored four of the last five points to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Terriers bounced back and took control of the game in the final three sets, with the combination of Martini and Albano fueling the offense and the team effort on the defensive end holding Geneva to hitting percentages of .250 (second set), -.057 (third set) and -.118 (fourth set).

Hiram is having a big season so far, as it now sits in the second spot in the AMCC with a 4-1 conference record. Saint Vincent is the AMCC-leader with a 6-0 conference clip.

Hiram will host another conference game in its next match against Penn State Altoona next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
