TIFFIN, Ohio - March 13, 2024 - The Hiram men's lacrosse team lost to Heidelberg, 4-2, on Wednesday evening in its first game back from spring break at Hoernemann Stadium.

Despite the loss, the team kept the game close and battled, with the score standing at 2-2 in the first half. Heidelberg created some separation in the second half of the non-conference battle, as it scored a goal in the third and fourth quarter to secure the win.

Noah Pilgram and
Ethan Mayer scored one goal each for Hiram in the first half; Pilgram finished with three shots on goal while leading the team in shots taken (five).

Heidelberg took control of the contest in the second half thanks to its continued defensive effort and grit;Â the team had 12 caused turnovers and collected 31 ground balls for the entire game.

The Terriers played hard defense in the game's final quarter, but Heidelberg added some insurance and took a 4-2 lead with 7:07 remaining, which held through the final horn.
Aidan Griffin had a stellar day in goal, finishing with a season-high 17 saves.

Hiram will host its first conference game of the season against Oberlin College next Wednesday at Henry Field beginning at 7 p.m.
