HIRAM, Ohio - February 28, 2024 - The record books gained a few more chapters on Wednesday night at Henry Field, as Hiram men's lacrosse coasted to a 27-1 victory over La Roche to improve to 2-1 this season.
The 27 goals and +26 goal differential are both new program records for a single game, while Noah Pilgram (12 points) and William Luketich (25 faceoff wins, 16 ground balls) combined for three individual records in the dominant win.
It continues the team's offensive surge to start the season; Hiram has scored more than 10 goals in each of its first three games of a season for the second time in program history (also in 2018).
Hiram's Ethan Mayer scored within 10 seconds of the game's start, giving the home team the early momentum that would hold for the rest of the game. Mayer tied a career-high three goals and chipped in one assist.
Also contributing in a big way was sophomore Micky Morgan, who scored a career-high five goals, including the team's second goal in that opening minute of play. It was the third career game in which Morgan scored at least three goals, all of which have come at home.
The veteran core of Pilgram, Luketich and Brett Johnson filled the rest of the stat sheet, with Pilgram leading the charge behind seven goals and five assists. With 15 goals this season and 56 for his career, the junior now ranks sixth in program history in goals scored.
Luketich was active during and after faceoffs, winning 18 of his 20 faceoffs and collecting 16 ground balls in the process. His performance helped Hiram maintain possession, with his one goal and three assists also fueling the offensive fire.
Johnson scored a career-high four goals and dished out a pair of assists to finish out the team's biggest contributions. The senior had two of the team's seven goals in the second half.
Hiram will look to close out the week with another win; the team will head to Cincinnati and play Mount St. Joseph on Saturday at 4 p.m.
