HIRAM, Ohio - February 24, 2024 – Hiram fell to Franciscan on its trip to Steubenville, OH by a final score of 22-11. It marked Hiram's first game on the road, with its record now standing at 1-1.
Despite the loss, the Terriers were able to see a huge contribution from junior Noah
Pilgram, who had five goals and a team-high 12 ground balls. Sophomore goalie
Aidan Griffin came away with 15 saves and
Ethan Bitong led the defense with five caused turnovers. Senior
Ethan Mayer rounded out the notable contributions with three goals.
During the first half, the Terriers were able to rely on their defense to keep them in the game. They kept pace with the Barons in terms of shots (23 to 24) and saves (7 to 5) during that span.
It was not until the second half when Franciscan was able to pull away and take control. Franciscan's Joseph James had 15 points in the game to lead all student-athletes (nine goals, six assists), with James Masso also adding five goals of his own.
The Terriers gathered 44 ground balls to lead the non-conference contest and won the faceoff battle, 19-to-17.
Hiram will be at home for its next match against La Roche University, which will be played at Charles A. Henry Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
