HIRAM, Ohio - February 14, 2024 - The Hiram men's basketball team lost its final home game of the season to Wooster, 83-54, on Wednesday evening inside Price Gymnasium.
The Terriers had 10 different student-athletes score in the game, including DJ Niles with a career-high 8 points. Senior Max Johnson also chipped in a season-high 8 points, while Manuel Devora Violan had a team-high 9 points.
Wooster, who extended its winning streak to 10 straight, improved to 12-3 in conference play with just one conference remaining. Wabash also has a 12-3 NCAC record in the battle for the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
The Fighting Scots jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game and continued to play strong defense throughout the first half. Wooster finished the game with 16 steals.
Hiram fought hard throughout, mixing up its rotations and giving the depth of the roster a chance to show its potential. Freshman Tristan Martin-Marshall was part of that success, blocking three shots off the bench.
Wooster made five 3-pointers in the second half to hang on for the win. Hiram's offense made it just a two-point margin over the final 20 minutes.
The Terriers will play their final game of the season on Saturday, when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana for a road matchup with DePauw at 3 p.m.
