PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – October 29, 2024 – Hiram fell just short against a future PAC opponent on Tuesday evening at Graham Field, losing 1-0 to Chatham in the final non-conference match of the season.
Chatham's Azavier Coppin delivered the decisive blow in the match, scoring in the 16
th minute on a shot to the high-left region of the net. That proved to be the only offense between both teams, with the Hiram defense allowing just two shots on goal for the entire match.
The Terriers offense had chances to break through and level the score, finishing with a season-high 22 shots, six of which were on target.
Carmine Boscarello had five shots, while
Bedo Kusuni (four shots, two shots on goal) and Andrey Muñoz (four shots, one shot on goal) also were active in the contest.
Hiram found some openings in the defense throughout the second half, with 17 of its 22 shots coming during that span. Chatham's Justin Teufel – who replaced the starting goalkeeper at halftime – stepped up and had five saves over the last 45 minutes.
The Terriers will get one more chance to make their presence felt in what has been an exciting season for a roster loaded with talented underclassmen. That group will play host to Wittenberg on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Henry Field, where senior
Mason Kamlowsky will receive recognition as part of Senior Night.
