Hiram Defense Settles In Despite 3-0 Loss At DePauw

Genovese, Lineen Record Shots On Target In Loss

GREENCASTLE, Indiana – October 26, 2024 – Hiram men's soccer lost its final road conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon at Reavis Stadium, falling 3-0 to a DePauw team that figures to have a chance at winning the entire NCAC this season.

The Tigers improved to 9-3-4 this season and now hold a 3-1-2 record in conference play, which ranks fourth. The top four teams in the conference at the end of the regular season advance to the conference tournament, with the No. 1 and No. 2 teams hosting semifinal matches.

A pair of early goals put Hiram in a tough spot for the remainder of the contest, as Matthew Fogo scored in the seventh minute and Alek Habecker netted a goal in the 14th minute to put the Terriers in a 2-0 hole. The road team only allowed one goal for the remaining 76 minutes, a span that also included two shots on target and five shots overall for the offense, but the effort wasn't enough in the conference affair.

Taeven Genovese and Alex Lineen each recorded shots on goal, while Bedo Kusuni had two shots of his own. Tyler Jurgensen had six saves in his 10th start of the year.

Hiram will get a break from NCAC action and next take on Chatham on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. from Graham Field in Pittsburgh, PA.
