BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania - April 13, 2023 - Hiram scored its most runs in a road game this season, tallying 16 runs on 16 hits in a 16-3 win over Geneva on Thursday afternoon at 33rd Street Field.
It marks the Terriers' largest run differential in a game this year, too, and moves them another win closer to a .500 record for the season (12-13 record).
The first three hitters in the Hiram lineup – Chaisson Marrs, Michael Corsillo and Connor Bansek – combined for 6 hits, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored in the victory. Logan Gallentine, Kobe Hunter and Kyle Adams also had multi-hit efforts, while Stephen Javorek pitched 5 innings of 1-run ball to earn his third win of 2023.
The Terriers jumped on the Golden Tornadoes right from the start, with 8 runs scored over the first three innings. Bansek had an RBI in the first and second innings before Adams had a 2-run single to center field in the third inning.
That production was more than enough for Javorek, who was around the strike zone all game long. He finished with a line of 5 IP, 7 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 4 K and earned his team-leading third win of the year.
The offense poured it on in the sixth, scoring 7 of its 16 runs in the inning, which included 6 base hits. Bansek (double), Alec Bennett (triple), Hunter (double) and Marrs (single) all had run-scoring knocks in the frame.
Austin Smith and Jacob Kocuba pitched the final two innings out of the bullpen to seal the non-conference victory.
Hiram will stay on the road and take on Wabash in an NCAC doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
